FAQ: FLOAFERS: Foam Meets Fashion
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

Why are you doing this project?

Three years ago, we were on vacation and wanted a pair of loafers that could be worn to the beach, in the water or on a boat; a pair of shoes that would also be stylish enough that they would fit right in even if they were worn into a restaurant or at an office. The options were limited, so we eventually came up with a stylish loafer that combines the functionality & utility of EVA foam.

What do you mean scuff-proof & slip-resistant soles?

Thermoplastic Copolyester (TPC) rubber – which makes them ideal for boats or any kind of wet surface. Although we cannot prevent all accidents the TPC rubber bottoms certainly enhance your traction.

Where are your shoes manufactured?

Floafers are manufactured in Vietnam, which was decided on with the help of our sourcing partners in NYC. We audited and evaluate their production process as it was extremely important that we partner with a manufacture who met our highest standards and quality.

How do I know my size?

Our shoes are available in whole sizes only and run true to size but if you’re a half size we recommend sizing up to the next whole size (IE: if your a 6.5 go with a size 7). We’ve designed the collection for a regular size width; if you consider yourself a wide please be aware the shoes may fit snug. We are going to send out a PDF, which will be printable, that outlines the insole of the size you select so you can make certain the size you are ordering is 100% correct. This should eliminate size issues & will be sent out with our survey immediately after campaign.

When do I select my size, color & style once I've pledged?

After the campaign is complete will send you a survey for you to fill out. In that survey you will pick what colors, styles and sizes you want.

How does shipping work for international customers?

All orders that are shipped outside the United States (including Canada) are always a bit more expensive as we all know. As much as we would like to cover this cost it sometimes gets expensive. International shipping prices and taxes/tariffs/duties vary in different parts of the world.

We truly appreciate ALL our international backers, all we ask is you make sure you choose to appropriate shipping option when making your pledge. If you have any questions feel free to send us a message.

Manufacturing Quality

We have partnered with a manufacture who specializes in footwear bonding. This process involves using a high strength bonding agent that attaches the Floafers upper to the TPC sole. Our manufacture specializes in this bonding process and currently produces shoes for many of the largest shoe brands in the world. The bonding agent is resistant to heat as well as salt water. The quality of EVA foam is important when manufacturing certain products and we made sure Floafers were made of the highest quality EVA available on the market.

Unfortunately we are not accepting any returns however as mentioned on our KS page we will be offering a printable PDF file for those who are extremely unsure of their sizing to prevent any sizing issues upon delivery!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
